A slightly higher San Luis chinampa from which block of mud containing young flower seedlings are being moved from the germination bed (almácigo) in which they were planted. Many chinampa farmers combine this ancient practice of planting seeds in germination beds made from canal mud, with modern crops—flowers for sale in local markets—and the use of greenhouses such as those seen in the background.
