fill this chinampa in San Gregorio Atlapulco. Note also the ahuejote/willow
trees (trimmed into this characteristic shape) and grass lining most of
the fields in this view. Formerly, most farmers used canoes that were
much narrower than the one seen in the canal on the right.. Today, many
of the canals are allowed to become overgrown with grass and reeds as
farmers increasing rely on wheelbarrows and bicycles for transportation. |
